Moutarou has worked in sustainable development, human rights and education in a variety of African and American contexts for the past twenty years. With decades teaching French, Pulaar and Wolof both in person and online for over 10,000 students in over 50 countries, he has also worked to execute various exchange trips to Senegal for both students and teachers. His firsthand experience with cultural and linguistic training for US Peace Corps volunteers in Senegal. Matou worked with (SIT) School for International Training study abroad for 8 years and CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) for 12 years,. He has led various cultural exchanges and service learning trips with Americans in local communities, and worked with an organization called BuildOn which builds schools in rural communities in Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso and Malawi. Matou always had a keen eye for creating opportunities for his fellow Senegalese. He created programs like Cultural Pals to help young Senegalese academics put their skills to work.
